Selling your handmade products online with zero commission: how it works on Handsome

On Handsome you sell your handmade products online and the platform keeps nothing: the commission is zero, on every item. The payment is created directly on your own Stripe account and the money is yours; the only sum that leaves the till is the normal fee Stripe charges on any card payment. Since 18 September 2026 every Maker with a verified Italian VAT number and a connected Stripe account can sell.

People who work with their hands usually sell in the same three places: the market stall, the workshop, and private messages. The stall closes at seven, the workshop is found by people who already know you, and in chat every sale is a negotiation by hand - photo, price, bank details, shipping - that often dies on its own. A product shop closes that loop without you answering every single "how much is it?".

How selling products on Handsome works

Your shop lives inside the public profile you already have, at handsomemakers.com/en/artigiani/your-slug/prodotti. It is not a separate store you have to launch from scratch. Your profile and your workshop pages are open to search engines; the product pages are not, and that changes how you use the shop. There is one link: you put it in your bio, you send it to whoever asks you a price, you print it on a card and slip it into the parcel. And whoever lands on your profile for one of your courses finds the pieces right there, on the same page, without having to message you. 1. You upload the item from your dashboard: photos, title, description, price, how many units you have.
2. The item appears in your shop, inside your public profile, and it is seen by whoever opens the profile or the link you sent.
3. Whoever wants it adds it to the cart and pays by card on a Handsome page, without leaving and without messaging you.
4. The payment is created directly on your Stripe account: the money is yours in full and it does not pass through us.
5. Handsome collects the address and hands you the complete order, with everything you need to pack it.
6. You wrap it and ship it, or let the buyer collect it at your workshop if you have turned pickup on.

What it costs to sell: nothing, on our side

Handsome keeps no percentage on products: no listing cost, no order cost, no monthly fee to keep the shop open. When someone buys, the only amount taken out is Stripe's own card fee, the same one you would pay with any other system: current terms are on Stripe's official pricing page.

To see the difference you need something to measure against. On Etsy you pay around 0.20 dollars per listing - even when the item does not sell - plus a transaction fee of around 6.5% on the order total, shipping included, plus payment processing fees on top; the current numbers are on Etsy's official fees page and it is worth checking them, because they change. What you need to get started

There are three requirements, and none of them asks you to touch a website.

• An Italian VAT number. You enter it in your profile and we verify it, exactly as we already do for public workshops: until it is verified, publishing stays locked.
• A connected Stripe account, because that is where the payments are created. If you have not done it yet, the steps are here: connecting Stripe and getting paid.
• Accepting the selling terms, once, from the dashboard.
• Then you need photos. Not a technical requirement, but they decide almost everything: how to photograph your pieces in the studio.

The Stripe account is the one people postpone most, and it is also the one that blocks everything: until it is connected there is nowhere for the money to arrive. If you are starting from scratch, the whole path is in VAT number, Stripe and five listings.

Shipping, pickup and the buyer's address

You set the shipping yourself: how much it costs and, if you want, the threshold above which you ship for free. Nobody imposes a rate on you and nobody pushes you to ship at a loss to stay high in a ranking. Handsome collects the address at checkout and hands it to you with the order, so you never have to ask for it in chat.

Pickup at the workshop is switched on once for the whole shop, not item by item: if it is on, the buyer is the one who chooses between shipping and pickup. People who come to collect see where you work and smell the workshop: it is the same movement we describe in workshops and products together.

Five free listings, then Handsome Pro

On the free plan you keep five items published at a time. Drafts, on the other hand, are unlimited: you build the whole catalogue slowly and decide week by week what goes in the window. For many workshops five well-photographed pieces are enough.

With Handsome Pro the ceiling disappears: 9.90 euros a month - 7.90 for members of partner trade associations - or 95 euros a year, with a 30-day free trial and no card at sign-up. And if one day Pro lapses you lose nothing: the five most recent items stay online, the others go back to drafts and they republish on their own when you renew.
