Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy describes how Handsome (the "Service") uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies") when you visit handsomemakers.com. It complements our Privacy Policy and is written in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and the Italian Data Protection Authority guidelines.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites save on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) while you browse. They let us remember some information (language preference, login session, UI choices) and understand how you use the site so we can improve it. We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage and session storage.

2. Types of cookies we use

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

They are essential for the site to work and do not require consent. Without them, core features (booking, login, language switching) would not work. They include:

  • Supabase session cookies (sb-*): keep your login session active. Valid for the session duration + refresh token expiry.
  • Local preference cookies: store your language choice (it/en) and other UI preferences. Duration: 1 year.
  • CSRF security cookies: protect forms from cross-site request forgery during sensitive operations. Duration: session.
  • Consent cookie (handsome-cookie-consent): stores your choice on non-essential cookies. Duration: 6 months.

2.2 Third-party payment cookies

When you book a workshop, payment is processed via Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). Stripe sets its own cookies on its domain (js.stripe.com) to prevent fraud and manage the payment session. They are strictly necessary for the transaction and do not require explicit consent, but we list them here for transparency. More details on Stripe's Cookie Policy.

2.3 Analytics cookies

Only with your consent ("Analytics" category in the banner) we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) with anonymised IP, for aggregate statistics on how the site is used (page views, journeys, device). Without consent these cookies are not installed.

  • _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics 4): aggregate statistics. Duration: up to 24 months.

We also use anonymous server-side logs (status codes, response times, IP for rate-limiting only) owned by Handsome, retained for max 30 days: these are not cookies and do not profile the user.

2.4 Marketing / profiling cookies

Only with your consent ("Marketing" category) we use third-party cookies to measure and optimise our advertising campaigns and show you relevant ads (remarketing):

  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd): measuring campaigns on Facebook and Instagram and remarketing. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd): conversion measurement and remarketing on the Google network. Duration: up to 13 months.

These tools may build advertising profiles and involve a data transfer to the United States: Meta and Google adhere to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the EU Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses apply in the alternative. Without consent they are not installed. You can also manage preferences at Google Ads Settings and Meta Ad Preferences.

3. How to manage cookies

You can always change your cookie preferences via the banner that appears on first visit or modify them from your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may make some site features unavailable (login, booking, persistent language choice).
