Terms of Service

Last update: 20 maggio 2026

Welcome to Handsome. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of handsomemakers.com and the related services. By using the Service you accept these Terms in full.

1. Scope of the service

Handsome is a digital marketplace that connects end users ("Customers") with independent artisans ("Artisans") offering workshops and crafts experiences in Italy. Handsome acts as a technological intermediary; workshops are delivered directly by the Artisan, who is solely responsible.

2. Economic model

Zero commission for Artisans. The entire deposit paid by the Customer (€10 for group workshops, €25 for private sessions) is transferred entirely to the Artisan via Stripe Connect.

The only amount retained by Handsome is the Booking guarantee of €0.49 per seat, charged separately to the Customer at checkout. It covers platform costs, customer support and the refund procedure described in Section 4.

Payment flow (Stripe SCT — Separate Charges and Transfers). The Customer pays the full amount (deposit + Booking guarantee) on Handsome's platform account. Funds owed to the Artisan are held on that account as a fiduciary deposit until 5 days after the workshop end date; at the end of that window, Handsome automatically issues a Stripe Transfer for the net deposit to the Artisan's Stripe Connect account. The 5-day window allows handling of disputes, no-shows and Stripe chargebacks before the payout is released.

2-bis. Collection mandate without representation

By accepting these Terms and completing Stripe Connect onboarding, the Artisan grants Handsome a mandate without representation (Italian Civil Code, art. 1705) to collect booking deposits from Customers. Handsome acts in its own name but on behalf of the Artisan: collected amounts remain the Artisan's economic property and are transferred in full as described in Section 2.

Tax consequences of the mandate:

  • Handsome does not issue any invoice or receipt to the Customer for the workshop deposit nor the on-site balance;
  • the Artisan is required to issue a tax document (electronic receipt or invoice) to the Customer for the full workshop price, including the deposit received via Handsome and any balance collected on site. The tax event occurs at workshop delivery date;
  • Handsome does not issue any commission invoice to the Artisan, as no amount is retained on the deposit (zero commission);
  • the Booking guarantee of €0.49/seat is instead collected by Handsome in its own name, with a corresponding tax document issued to the Customer and regular VAT handling.

All tax, social-security and administrative obligations connected to the artisan business (VAT number, flat-rate or ordinary regime, INPS, workshop authorisations, food safety where applicable) remain the Artisan's sole responsibility.

3. Gift cards

Gift cards purchased through the Service are valid 12 months from the purchase date and can be redeemed on any workshop on the platform. Unredeemed gift cards expire after 12 months; the residual value is not refundable nor convertible in cash, as permitted by Italian law (D.lgs. 21/2014). The expiration date is shown at checkout and in the confirmation email.

4. Cancellations and refunds

  • Thanks to the Booking Refund Guarantee of €0.49 paid at checkout, Customers can cancel up to 24 hours before the workshop and receive a full deposit refund.
  • Within 24 hours of the workshop start the deposit is non-refundable, except documented force majeure events.
  • The Booking Refund Guarantee (€0.49/seat) is non-refundable in case of Customer cancellation. It is fully refunded (together with the deposit) if the Artisan cancels the workshop or Handsome is unable to confirm the booking.
  • If the Artisan cancels or fails to deliver the workshop, the Customer receives a full refund (deposit + Booking Refund Guarantee) within 48 hours of report, to the original payment method.
  • Atomic pre-event refund. Because the funds owed to the Artisan are held on Handsome's account until T+5 post-event (see Section 2), pre-event refunds are processed entirely on Handsome's side: nothing is ever transferred to or clawed back from the Artisan.

4-bis. Custom workshops

For "custom" workshops (private requests organised ad hoc between Customer and Artisan), the payment model is:

  • the Customer pays a 15% deposit of the agreed price at checkout, collected by Handsome under the mandate-without-representation regime of Section 2-bis;
  • the remaining 85% is due directly to the Artisan on the workshop day (cash, the Artisan's POS, or bank transfer agreed in advance);
  • the Artisan issues a tax document to the Customer for the full workshop price (deposit + balance);
  • the deposit is non-refundable if the Customer cancels within 72 hours of the workshop start, except documented force majeure; it is fully refunded if the Artisan cancels or the request is never confirmed.

5. Artisan responsibilities

The Artisan is solely responsible for workshop delivery, quality of materials, safety of participants and compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. Handsome is not a party to the workshop contract and is not liable for damages, injuries or breaches by the Artisan, without prejudice to the Customer's right to claim a refund under Section 4.

5-bis. Intellectual Property and infringement reports (IP Policy)

Artisans agree not to publish any content (workshop titles, descriptions, images, videos, reproduced artifacts) that infringes third-party intellectual property rights, including registered trademarks, copyright-protected works, registered designs, and protected geographical indications (PDO, PGI, TSG).

Handsome operates a structured reporting channel compliant with Article 16 of EU Regulation 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act). Rightholders may report alleged infringements via the IP infringement report page or by email to info@handsomemakers.com. Standard process:

  • Acknowledgment to the reporting party within 24 business hours;
  • Review of the report and the contested content within 48 business hours;
  • If infringement is substantiated: immediate suspension of the contested content and written notice to the Artisan with right of counter-notification within 10 business days;
  • Repeat-offender policy: 3 substantiated infringements result in permanent removal of the Artisan from the platform;
  • All decisions are logged in the compliance database with reasoning, timestamp, and admin reference.

Knowingly false or bad-faith reports may result in legal liability for the reporting party.

6. Accounts & data

Registration is required to book a workshop or publish an offer as an Artisan. Users guarantee the accuracy of the information provided and are responsible for credentials safekeeping. Personal data processing is governed by our Privacy Policy.

6-bis. Customer–Artisan communication (mediated in-app chat)

After a booking is confirmed, Customer and Artisan may communicate exclusively through the in-app chat provided by Handsome. The chat is the official channel for practical workshop questions (time, address, materials, allergies/dietary restrictions, accessibility).

Sharing personal email addresses, phone numbers, social accounts (Instagram, Facebook) or messaging handles (WhatsApp, Telegram), as well as external domain links, is forbidden — and technically blocked — except for information strictly necessary to deliver the workshop (e.g. the workshop address communicated by the Artisan after booking). Repeated violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or, in serious cases, permanent account removal.

Messages exchanged are retained for customer-support, security, fraud-prevention and dispute-management purposes, within the limits and modalities set out in our Privacy Policy. Handsome does not actively monitor conversation content except in the context of reports or automated moderation procedures.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Handsome's aggregate liability towards the user shall not exceed the Booking guarantee paid for the specific transaction. Handsome is not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of data or loss of business opportunities.

8. Changes to these Terms

Handsome may amend these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email with at least 15 days' notice. Minor changes will be communicated by updating this page.

9. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Italian law. For disputes with consumers, the court of the consumer's residence applies (Italian Consumer Code, art. 66-bis). For disputes with non-consumer users, the Court of Milan has exclusive jurisdiction.
