An artisan workshop is a hands-on 2-4 hour session where a master Maker teaches a traditional Italian technique (pottery, cooking, glass, leather, etc.) to small groups or in private format. You take home the object you make during the session.

Pick a workshop, date and seats, then pay a deposit online (€10 for groups, €25 for private sessions) by card or PayPal. You get an email confirmation within 1 minute. The balance is paid on site directly to the Maker on the workshop day.

Average price in Italy ranges from €35 to €120 per person. On Handsome, group workshops (4-8 people) average €45-65; private sessions (1-6 people) €80-150. Prices are always transparent on the workshop page.

Yes. Cancellation is free up to 3 days before the workshop, with a 100% refund of what you paid online. After that there is no refund. For private sessions, which reserve the whole studio for one group, the deadline is 7 days before; for custom private events it is 14 days. Read the full terms on the Cancellations and refunds page.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified (highest security standard). Handsome never stores your full card data. PayPal is also available as alternative method.

Each workshop page lists what's included (materials, tools, apron) and what to bring (e.g. closed shoes, clothes you can stain). Tell the Maker about allergies or special needs before the event.

Yes. Most workshops on Handsome are designed for absolute beginners. The Maker guides you step by step. Filter by "Beginner" level or read the workshop description for the required experience.

Yes, always. Some items (like pottery) require firing and are shipped 7-14 days later; others (cooking, leather, textile) are ready immediately at the end of the workshop.

Yes. On the search page you can filter by language. Each Maker on Handsome lists the languages they speak. The platform is available in Italian and English.

Yes. Choose the number of seats on the booking page. For groups larger than 6 people, it's better to book a dedicated private workshop by contacting the Maker from their profile.

Register as a Maker, complete onboarding (bio, photos, address) and wait for Handsome team approval (within 48h). After approval you publish your workshops. The first 30 approved Makers get the permanent "Founder" badge.

Zero. Handsome does not take any commission on payments to Makers: the deposit (€10 per seat on group workshops, €25 for a whole private session) goes entirely to your Stripe Connect account. Handsome funds itself through subscriptions and the events it organises directly, never through a share of your work.

No, Handsome takes no commission: it is completely free for the Maker, 0% on workshop prices. While other platforms keep up to 20% on sales, on Handsome you receive 100% of your price (online deposit + balance on site), with no setup fees and nothing added to what the customer pays.

Handpoints are Handsome's loyalty programme. As a customer you earn them by booking and leaving verified reviews, and you spend them as a discount on Handsome Events: 100 points are worth €1. As a Maker you earn them by bringing other Makers and by running your workshops with real participants, and 3,000 points are worth one month of the Pro plan. Points never expire and your balance is always visible on the Handpoints page.

Yes. For team building, corporate events and client gifts contact the Private events section. We customize private workshops with 4-20 participants, tailored by discipline and city.

There are two kinds. The Handsome gift card (€15 to €500) can be used on any workshop on the platform, Handsome Events included; a Maker's gift card, bought from their page, can be used only on that Maker's workshops. Whoever receives it enters the code when booking, no account needed. It is valid 12 months from purchase. Unused credit is not lost: with a €50 gift card on a €40 workshop, €10 stays on the card to use before it expires. If the workshop costs more, you pay the difference to the Maker on the day of the workshop (the gift card must cover at least the deposit). If you have not used it yet, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase (right of withdrawal); after that, or once it has been used even in part, it cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash. On purchase you get a payment receipt: the tax document is issued by whoever runs the workshop when you use the gift card.

You get an email and a full refund of what you paid online, to the method you paid with: the refund is issued immediately and automatically, with no need to ask; it usually reaches your card within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank. The Maker may also choose to offer you, as a courtesy, a 10% discount on your next workshop with them: if so, you will find the code in the cancellation email.

Yes. Only those who actually participated can leave a verified review. You receive a post-event email with the review link. Reviews help other users choose the right workshop.

Currently we focus exclusively on Italian artisanship: all Makers are based in Italy. The site is in Italian and English so international travelers can easily book.
