An artisan workshop is a hands-on 2-4 hour session where a master artisan teaches a traditional Italian technique (pottery, cooking, glass, leather, etc.) to small groups or in private format. You take home the object you make during the session.

Pick a workshop, date and seats, then pay a deposit online (€10 for groups, €25 for private sessions) by card or PayPal. You get an email confirmation within 1 minute. The balance is paid on site directly to the artisan on the workshop day.

Average price in Italy ranges from €35 to €120 per person. On Handsome, group workshops (4-8 people) average €45-65; private sessions (1-6 people) €80-150. Prices are always transparent on the workshop page.

Yes. Thanks to the Booking Refund Guarantee (€0.49 at checkout), cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the workshop, with a 100% deposit refund. Within 48 hours of the start time there is no refund (last-minute). The same policy applies to group workshops and private sessions. Read the full terms on the Cancellations and refunds page.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified (highest security standard). Handsome never stores your full card data. PayPal is also available as alternative method.

Each workshop page lists what's included (materials, tools, apron) and what to bring (e.g. closed shoes, clothes you can stain). Tell the artisan about allergies or special needs before the event.

Yes. Most workshops on Handsome are designed for absolute beginners. The artisan guides you step by step. Filter by "Beginner" level or read the workshop description for the required experience.

Yes, always. Some items (like pottery) require firing and are shipped 7-14 days later; others (cooking, leather, textile) are ready immediately at the end of the workshop.

Yes. On the search page you can filter by language. Each artisan on Handsome lists the languages they speak. The platform is available in Italian and English.

Yes. Choose the number of seats on the booking page. For groups larger than 6 people, it's better to book a dedicated private workshop by contacting the artisan from their profile.

Register as an artisan, complete onboarding (bio, photos, address) and wait for Handsome team approval (within 48h). After approval you publish your workshops. The first 50 approved artisans get the permanent "Founder" badge.

Zero. Handsome does not take any commission on payments to artisans: the deposit (€10 groups, €25 private) goes entirely to your Stripe Connect account. The only Handsome revenue is the €0.49 Booking Guarantee paid by the customer in addition.

Buy a gift card of free amount (€20-500) online by card. The recipient receives a unique code via email to use when booking any workshop on Handsome. Valid 12 months from purchase.

You get an email notification and full refund of the deposit within 5-10 business days on your card. We also give you a 10% discount voucher for the next booking on Handsome.

Yes. Only those who actually participated can leave a verified review. You receive a post-event email with the review link. Reviews help other users choose the right workshop.

Currently we focus exclusively on Italian artisanship: all artisans are based in Italy. The site is in Italian and English so international travelers can easily book.
