A free platform for artisans sounds too good to be true. It's legitimate to ask: what's the catch? In this guide we explain point by point how Handsome makes money without charging the artisan, and what that means in practice for those who publish a workshop.
The model: 100% of the price to the artisan, €0.50 Booking guarantee included in the deposit
Handsome takes no commission on the workshop price. The artisan receives 100% of the price: the deposit (charged online via Stripe) and the balance (paid on site) go entirely to them. The only item is the €0.50 Booking guarantee, included in the round deposit figure (e.g. €10 = €9.50 deposit + €0.50 guarantee): the artisan collects it together with the deposit and Handsome invoices it back to them once a month by SEPA direct debit, only on events actually held. It's a small fixed amount, not a percentage.
